Redvespa in 2007 Deloitte/Unlimited Fast 50
Press release

Wellington IT consulting company, Redvespa Consultants Ltd, is delighted to have been included in the 2007 Deloitte/Unlimited Fast 50 list of the top 50 New Zealand companies with the fastest revenue growth, which was announced last night.
“This is a real vindication of the tremendous hard work, professionalism and dedication of the Redvespa team, and of the great support we have had from our clients,” said Redvespa managing director Richard Gibson.
Founded in 2003 by Richard Gibson, and now managed with his wife Sarah Gibson, Redvespa is a specialist business analysis (“BA”) company that offers clients high level BA and project management services. The company also provides business consulting and collaboration solutions.
While most of its clients are in Wellington, Redvespa has taken on projects in Auckland, the UK and Australia. It was recently named preferred supplier for BA resourcing to the New Zealand Customs Service and to Telecom.
“The core of our growth has been BA work for corporate and government clients here,” says Richard Gibson. “We want to become known as the ‘go to’ for BA’s in the Wellington market.”
Redvespa is a founding member of the New Zealand chapter of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), and is committed to the professional development of business analysis in New Zealand, said Richard Gibson.
“By focusing on business analysis and project management at Redvespa, we are developing a community of consultants who share ideas, knowledge and tools with each other and help to mentor the in-house teams we’re working with. In this way, we want to deepen our consultants’ already broad skill set, and build the level of expertise we can offer. Our end goal is always to add real value to our clients, to help them raise their game and make major improvements to the operating efficiency of their systems and environments.
“A big part of our success is that we are vendor agnostic. We’re not in the business of recommending the purchase or implementation of any one product; we provide impartial advice to our clients and they value that highly.”
Redvespa came in at 46th on the 2007 Deloitte/Unlimited Fast 50 index.
In 2005, the company employed two staff and had annual revenue of less than $850,000. Over the past two years, the company has experienced 154 percent revenue growth to $2.15 million, and is looking at a further 50 percent jump in earnings to $3 million by the end of the current financial year. The company has brought on an independent business mentor Dion Mortensen to help guide the business as it grows.
Richard Gibson attributes the company’s rapid growth to two factors – the company’s focus on hiring and supporting top quality senior staff, and a careful nurturing of the partnerships that it establishes and maintains with clients
“Both of these relationships are immensely important to us,” said Richard Gibson.
“We actively recruit senior business analysts and project managers with 10-plus years of experience. We then work hard to support them in every way possible so that they can deliver high quality work to our clients.
“We have a dedicated Delivery Manager whose primary focus is to ensure that our consultants deliver to our clients’ expectations, and to iron out any issues that might arise through the life of a project.
“Our Technical Manager is also an outstanding talent. By keeping abreast of rapid changes in technology, he is a critical resource to the rest of the team who value his knowledge and insights.
“Our clients tell us that they like the depth of expertise in the Redvespa team, the layers of support that’s provided, and the added value we offer.”
